Virgo Season 2026: Endings & Beginnings

🌿 Virgo Season 2026 - The Art of Devoted Attention

Virgo season is here and I want to give this sign a proper introduction, because it gets a bit of a bad rap. Nit-picky. Overly critical. The perfectionist. But at its core, Virgo cares deeply.

At its best, Virgo is in service - to you, to the people around it, to getting things right because the details matter and everyone deserves to be considered and cared for. Virgo loves to organise, schedule, analyse, and understand. It's ruled by Mercury, so even though it's an earth sign, there's a cerebral quality to it that can make it a little harder to pin down than its earthy neighbours.

And because it's mutable, Virgo doesn't get stuck the way Taurus can - it thinks its way through. And, unlike its fellow Mercury-ruled sign Gemini, which can gather ideas faster than it can act on them, Virgo gets the job done. Efficiently and properly.

It's also the sign most closely linked to health as a genuine mind-body connection reminder. Virgo governs the nervous system, daily routines, and the small, unglamorous habits that either support us or quietly wear us down. This season has a way of asking: what does your body need from your daily life right now?

We all have Virgo somewhere in our chart. For me, it's in my 4th house  and yes, I am an absolute clean freak when it comes to my home. Everything wants to be in its place, even when the rest of my chart makes that impractical. Mercury sits in my 12th house in Gemini, so when my home is a mess, my mind (and subconscious mind) usually is too. My home needs to be a retreat - somewhere I can rest a busy mind in a clutter-free environment.

This is where knowing the details of your own chart becomes genuinely useful. Not the version of self-care that's trending on Instagram this week but for the version that's actually yours and helps you navigate life with more ease.

Where is Virgo in your chart? Where is your Mercury? These placements will tell you a lot about how this energy wants to move through you.

If you'd like help finding out,  I'm trying something new, and I'm genuinely excited about it - a monthly online session where we go through the transits of the season ahead together, but with your own chart in the room too. Part astrology teaching and part group coaching.  It's a chance to actually work with what's in this newsletter rather than just read it.  To see where these transits land in your own chart, ask your questions, and leave with something to actually work with for the month ahead.

🌿Virgo Season Overview

Virgo season begins when the Sun enters Virgo on August 22/23 but before we go further into Virgo Season itself - we are still in the middle of eclipse season so yes, Virgo energy will want you to have it all figured out. Resist that pull a little longer. We're not clear of the eclipse corridor until the New Moon on September 11th, and even then, give this energy a few more days to settle before you treat anything as fully decided.

The Solar Eclipse in Leo that opened this eclipse season was a beginning with a twist. Because it fell near the South Node, it asked for a release of something before a more authentically-you new beginning could take root in your Leo and Aquarius houses - themes we'll be working with over the next 18 months to 2 years as the nodes move through this axis.

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on August 28th is also an ending, but a more definite one. It closes out the last 18 months or so, during which the nodes travelled through the Virgo–Pisces axis. It asks you to look honestly at what you've released in your Virgo house - the overthinking, the over-analysing, the perfectionism, the self-criticism and what you've leaned into in your Pisces house instead. Because this eclipse falls near the North Node, it's less a hard ending and more a moment of taking stock: what have the last 18 months to 2 years actually given you, in terms of surrender and letting go?

For me, Virgo and Pisces fall across my 4th house of home and my 10th house of career. The South Node moving through my 4th house didn't mean nothing was achieved there - in fact, I built my dream home during this time. But I did have to surrender a lot of the detail, the timeline, and the perfectionism I usually bring to a project. It turned out beautifully anyway. I've had to surrender in the tides of my career too, and I've come to recognise that the more I surrender into the opportunities that arise - or the pauses that settle - the more I'm met with the right thing arriving exactly when I least expect it.

So take a moment to look back to September 2024. Where in your life have you let go of needing things to be a certain way, and let yourself flow a little more instead?

Key Astrologcial Hightlights - Deep Dive

🌊 Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse - 28 August 2026 (4°54 Pisces)

The days leading into this eclipse are genuinely full-on. Mercury reaches cazimi in Virgo the same day as it forms a semisquare to Venus in Libra, and both the Sun and Mercury in Virgo square Uranus in Gemini right as the eclipse peaks.

Mercury cazimi - the Sun and Mercury sitting exactly together - can bring real clarity (in modern astrology) or, in the more traditional read, a kind of mental burnout where Mercury's brilliance gets a little scorched by the Sun's glare. I've seen both play out, and it tends to depend on the rest of your chart. So don't be surprised if it feels like a bit of a blur rather than a lightning bolt of insight, especially with a Pisces Moon and an eclipse layered on top.

The Sun and Mercury in Virgo - semisquare Venus, square Uranus, all in air and earth signs - bring a very cerebral, let's-get-this-sorted energy. But opposing them, the Moon in Pisces just wants to feel. It's also under pressure from that same square to Uranus and semisquare to Venus. So there's real tension here between wanting to think your way to resolution and needing to simply feel what's moving through you.

I think surrendering to both is the only way through this one. Feel what comes up and reflect what this is closing out looking back over the last 2 years. If something unexpected arises, go with it rather than fighting it - Uranus rarely loses that fight.

The release valve for the T-square this eclipse forms with Uranus sits in Sagittarius. If you have anything around 4 degrees of Sagittarius, you'll feel exactly where to focus. For the rest of us, leaning on a bigger-picture perspective - philosophy, faith, whatever helps you make sense of things - can help. Not to bypass the feelings, but rather trust there's a purpose here we may not see clearly yet. That 4-degree mark has been activated for months now, and I feel like we are starting to get an inkling of where it will all land. Whatever helps you trust that it will land the way it's meant to - lean on that and let go of what you need to let go of.

🌑 New Moon in Virgo — 11 September 2026 (18°26)

From the Last Quarter Moon in Gemini on September 4th through to the New Moon on September 11th, there's a genuine lull in planetary activity. Rest into it. Let the mind rest, and let the body rest too - Virgo rules both. The new beginning is coming; there's no need to rush toward it.

The day before the New Moon is busy again: Venus enters Scorpio and Mercury enters Libra, both making contact with Chiron, still at the very last degree of Taurus. I think this speaks to the importance of our mind-body-earth connection right now - what do we need to move forward in harmony with our environment, our bodies, and each other? We'll likely feel this both collectively and personally.

Venus in Scorpio tends to expose what's been kept quiet, and opposing Chiron, there may be a few surprises around the body, money, or the wider financial and environmental systems we're part of.

Mercury in Libra (the ruler of this New Moon), meanwhile, wants fairness to be heard - its quincunx to both Chiron and the North Node in Aquarius (forming a yod to Mercury) is an uneasy aspect that can simply leave something feeling a little "off," without necessarily resolving it straight away but there is an feeling of a fated push in this new beginning with the North Node there.

So despite the mixed bag surrounding it, I think this New Moon itself is full of promise - as I said above Virgo wants to solve the puzzle and I do think that this is a moment where we can seek some clarity in how we move forward.  Mercury is also in an air trine with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius so there's a breakthrough momentum to this fresh new beginning.  The eclipse energy is settling and Virgo is picking up the pieces and putting them back together again in a way that works better for us both physically and mentally.   It's a grounded and structured new moon and a great time to set new intentions around routines, health and daily structures that sustain us now.

Uranus also stations retrograde in Gemini on this same day (5°42, retrograde until February 2027), which tends to get louder in the lead-up. Expect possible disruption in communication, short-distance travel, or connectivity and keep an ear out for new information surfacing over the following weeks.

Till February 2027 we will also be retracing steps back to June 2026 with themes from our Gemini house rearing their heads again - on a collective level I think we will be seeing a lot more in the new around the impacts of AI and how we need to revise how we implement it in our world.

🐎 Chiron Retrograde Re-Enters Aries — 17/18 September

Chiron slips back into Aries while retrograde, wrapping up themes of individual identity and self-worth before its longer-term move into Taurus.

If you were born around 1975–1977, with Chiron in the very final degrees of Aries, this is a particularly relevant marker -  a wrapping-up point for your Chiron return.

💨 Working With This Season

The invitation this season comes in two halves. Early on, let go of the pull toward perfectionism - the eclipse doesn't leave much room for having it all figured out anyway. As the season settles into its second half, after the New Moon, you can lean more fully into Virgo's gift for detail and refinement. But give your mind a proper pause in the week before the New Moon - things will come into focus more easily once you have.

And as always, the astrology this season points back to the same place: looking after your body, your mind, and the nervous system that links the two.

A few journal prompts for the season:

  • Where have I let perfectionism stand in for actually caring?

  • What is my body asking for that my mind keeps overriding?

  • What have I released over the last 18 months tp 2 years, and what have I gained by letting go?

  • Where in my daily routine is genuinely supporting me  and where is it just habit?

  • What decision am I trying to force before it's ready?
